Belief in Tradition (giclee print)
"Belief in Tradition"
By (the late) Rex A. Begaye
Rex created this piece to symbolize the different elements of traditional life that kept him and his people strong. The wedding basket sits in the center, the circle of life, the marriage between man and woman, Mother Earth and Father Sky.
The warrior looks apon the Earth in balance, red as the ending of the day, blue as the beginning of the new day. The grid below talks about the energy of the Earth, the mountains symbolize the 4 sacred mountains that surround the Navajo lands, tha planets remind us of our connection to the universe. The Yei's above are Mother Earth and Father Sky, corn sits above representing the sacredness of all life.
