"Softer Strength"

By (the late) Rex A. Begaye

Rex described "Softer Strength" as representing the strength and beauty of the Earth and the woman. She holds a seed pot which represents the womb where all life comes from. Above her is corn, symbolizing life itself. The wedding basket sits behind her talking about the union between father Sky, who sits besides her, and Mother Earth. The golden eagle speaks of the elders and the keepers of tradition, the bald eagle and the prayer feather is for blessing and protecting the Earth. The comfort pattern reminds us of all the gifts she gives to us.
